Cultivating a positive school climate is very important to me. At its basis, parents, students and teachers need to feel safe, accepted and help promote positive behaviours. I encourage you to reach out to me whenever is best for you. Our learners value and admire you. Your support and encouragement mean the world to them. As parents/caregivers, you have a direct role in our learner’s educational journey. I will always make time to discuss your worries, concerns and proud moments. I encourage honest, open and respectful conversations that are free from discrimination. I promise to give our learners everything that I can to help them feel supported and inspired. It’s really important to me to bring you along this journey with us. I will keep you updated, informed and in the loop. I will encourage our learners to take responsibility for their learning and welcome any questions that you may have.
Young children love to rush home and share snippets of their days with their family. As our learners in grade 6 are older, it is more important than ever to carve out some time to share our days together. Giving our learners a chance to share their learning cements the new concepts and ideas while helping build their self confidence. I’m a firm believer that it takes a village to raise a child, and I am very excited to be involved with these foundational years of your child’s life. Partnership, communication will help us create a strong foundation for our learners to thrive and grow. I invite you to pick up the phone, or write a letter using any mode that you are comfortable with to tell me something you’d like me to know about your child. If you require any kind of ESL service, I will make sure to take the necessary steps to ensure seamless communication between us.
I will send out a handout in the first week of school that will help you set up the Remind App on your electronic devices. This will be the primary form of communication between us. I will send you daily updates about what we get up to in the class. I will let you know about upcoming tests, projects or events at the school. I will be sure to share you pictures to show you all of the fun we get up to in class. If you are unable to download and install this app, I will make sure to find an alternative route to ensure daily communication between us. In addition to the daily updates, I am committed to calling you monthly to talk about all of your child’s strengths, successes and the challenges that they are working to overcome. I love to send little notes home with our grade 6s to celebrate their achievements no matter how big or small they may seem.
I realize how busy, hectic and stressful our day to days are. I am here to equip our learners with life long skills and strategies that they can continually reference throughout their lives. I want nothing but the best for every single student in our class. My classroom management and lessons are structured in collaboration with our learners. I am so excited to update you and involve you in our educational journey of self-discovery and knowledge expansion. I know that we are going to have a fun and successful year together. There will be ups and downs intermittently throughout the year. I am here for every part of this learning adventure as a constant source of support and encouragement for your child.
